On March 28th, the Integration of Displaced People´s Project (IDPP) reached an impressive milestone when it handed over its 1,000th shelter to a displaced family. The handover celebration took place in a settlement near Aybak City, Samangan Province. Since 2017, the project has been supporting displaced families in the provinces of Balkh, Herat, Jawzjan, and Samangan.

Yesterday, provincial officials as well as representatives from Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) and the Afghan-German Cooperation inaugurated a power supply network in Samangan. The network is in the Kokjar area of Hazrat Sultan District. More than 8,000 people in the villages of Bamanchi, Malkar, Ghandaki, Tolakachi, Qazal Bash Lopan Naw, Lopan Kohna and Sadoai will enjoy reliable access to energy. About 50 people took part in the celebration at the Governor’s Office. The Afghan-German Cooperation’s Regional Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) supported DABS with funding the project’s implementation at a total cost of about AFN 133 million.

Taloqan, Takhar, 29th March 2021 – Yesterday, provincial officials and representatives from the Afghan-German Cooperation inaugurated new school buildings in Takhar Province. More than 11,000 students will benefit from the new school buildings and renovated facilities. Around 200 people including students, parents, teachers, elders and civil society activists attended the celebration in Takhar. The Provincial Education Department (PED) implemented the projects with the technical support of the Afghan-German Cooperation’s Regional Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The projects are funded at a total of about AFN 167 million.

On 26th January, the Afghan-German Cooperation’s project to promote renewable energy (ESIP) conducted a kick-off meeting for 2021. More than 20 people participated, including representatives from ESIP, the Afghanistan Renewable Energy Union (AREU) and ‘ideas into energy’ - a German non-profit organisation that promotes the dissemination of renewable and sustainable energy and environmental protection technologies worldwide.

Yesterday at a ceremony in Kabul, the Afghan Ministry of Economy (MoEc) and the Afghan-German Cooperation’s programme Monitoring, Evaluation and Communication (MEC) signed a Cooperation Agreement for 2021. The cooperation aims to strengthen MoEc’s capacities for monitoring and evaluating Afghan national development projects. Monitoring and evaluation measures ensure that projects are beneficial to Afghan citizens in the long term. At the ceremony were representatives from MoEc including Minister Dr Karima Hamed Faryabi and Deputy Minister of Policy and Technical Affairs Mr Mohammad Nabi Sroosh as well as representatives from the Afghan-German Cooperation. The budget for the 2021 cooperation amounts to almost AFN 20 million.
