Over the past month, more than 150 engineering specialists from various line departments in six northern provinces refreshed their skills in use of topographical survey instruments. Today, the final course finished in Mazar-e-Sharif, and engineers can now apply their knowledge in local infrastructure projects. Through its programme for regional infrastructure development (RIDF), Germany provided technical assistance and funded the training at a cost of nearly AFN 1.5 million.

The new sports facility is being built for the female pupils, so they can practise sports in a safe environment. Sports is seen as an important part of education as it improves both the physical and mental fitness of children. The building will be ready in six months. The funding for the new facility comes from the German government. Construction of the new gymnasium will cost a total of AFN 18 million.

Afghanistan needs well-trained experts in the mining industry to make full use of its resources. As part of its programme for mining education, the German government partnered with the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) to conduct the training.

The participants will pass on their knowledge to other teacher trainers, ensuring that future teachers across the country will be able to act as ambassadors of peace in their schools and to resolve conflicts in their communities.

The event provided the opportunity for CSOs to bring up and discuss issues of importance of Balkh’s citizens.
