Information on Data Collected

This website uses cookies, i.e. small files containing short texts for technical processing. Without cookies – in other words, for example, when cookies have been deactivated in the browser – full use of this website is not possible.

Temporary Cookies

These session cookies are used for user analysis. They do not contain any personal data and expire at the end of the session, or at the end of a user survey, which is generally carried out every two years.

Website Analytics

This website uses Piwik to analyse user behaviour. Cookies are used to collect information about user behaviour on this website, including the abbreviated IP address of the requesting computer. This information is transferred to the server. The data is anonymised there and stored for usage analysis purposes. After anonymisation, an assignment to the requesting computer or connection is no longer possible according to the current state of technology. The information generated by the cookie is only passed on to the internally operated server. It is not passed on to third parties. The processing of data for usage analyses is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 Para. 1 e) GDPR for the improvement of the web offer in the context of public relations work and for the demand-oriented provision of information. When you enter the site, you will be asked directly whether you agree to the completely anonymised storage and analysis of the data from your visit. If you do not give your consent, no anonymised user data will be collected, stored or evaluated. Subsequently, you have the option of objecting to the processing of user data for the analysis of user behaviour.

Every time a user accesses a page of our website, and every time a file is downloaded, that information is stored in a log file.

  • Technical details of the browser used
  • Anonymous IP address
  • Date and time
  • Page opened/name of the file downloaded
  • Quantity of data transferred
  • Notification of whether viewing or download was successful

The stored data is evaluated exclusively for statistical purposes and then deleted. Data will not be passed on to third parties.

It is possible to object to the processing of user data for the analysis of user behaviour. You may at any time lodge an objection to the storage of your anonymously collected visitor data, so that these will no longer be collected in future. Please use the opt-out option at the bottom of this page to be excluded from counting.

Notes regarding objection

For this purpose, a cookie is stored on the device, preventing user data from being collected when the user visits this website. In order for the objection to take effect, the cookie must be stored on every device used. As the cookie is stored in specific browsers (internet programs), the cookie must be stored in every browser if several browsers are used on one device (e.g. Internet Explorer, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox). Please also note that, if you delete all cookies, the objection cookie will also be deleted and will need to be stored again.

Contact forms

When you use the contact form, we process your first and last names and email address. The data is processed based on Art. 6 paragraph 1 b) of the EU GDPR for the purpose of receiving the query formulated in the contact form.

Data is transmitted to GIZ using an SSL-encrypted connection, which makes it significantly more difficult for unauthorised persons to intercept it.

Social Media

On our pages, we use social media plug-ins (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).

You can recognise these plug-ins via the respective social media logos. In order to guarantee data protection our website, we only use these plug-ins together with the so-called “Shariff” solution. This application prevents social media plug-ins integrated on our website from transferring data to the respective provider already the first time you enter our website.

Only if you activate a respective plug-in by clicking on the corresponding button will a direct connection to the provider’s server be established (consent). As soon as you activate the plug-in, the respective provider receives the information that you have visited our site with your current IP address. If you are logged into your respective social media account (e.g. Facebook, YouTube) at the same time, the respective provider can connect your visit ton our website pages to your user account.

Activating a plug-in constitutes consent within the meaning of Art. 6. Para. 1 a) of the EU GDPR. You can revoke this consent at any time with effect for the future.

The social media plug-ins on the homepage are deactivated by default. By activating them, or by playing YouTube-Videos, you agree to the terms of use of the respective provider. In addition, cookies of the respective provider become active with activation.

When you leave our website, the social media plug-ins are deactivated again and the cookies are deleted. The social media plug-ins must be reactivated each time you visit our website.

YouTube with Extended Data Protection Mode

The website embeds YouTube videos. We use YouTube in extended data protection mode. In addition, we have integrated a two-click solution on our site, which informs our users that data may be transmitted when the embedded YouTube video is activated. The videos on our site are only displayed when users have actively given their consent that they agree with YouTube's privacy policy. Before this, no data is transmitted to YouTube. When videos are played on the website, a connection is established to the YouTube servers.

If a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies that collect information about user behaviour.

Those who have deactivated the saving of cookies for the Google Ads programme will not have to expect any such cookies when watching YouTube videos. However, YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you would like to prevent this, you must block the saving of cookies in the browser.
